How protected housing works in Valladolid

In the city of Valladolid, protected housing (vivienda protegida) comes through two routes. The first is VIVA, the city's land and housing company (Sociedad Municipal de Suelo y Vivienda): it rents out its municipal homes with one draw (sorteo) a year and sells its own developments, also by draw. The second is the Junta, the regional government, which through Somacyl and its Tuya Vivienda brand develops rental homes for young people in the city.

For both routes the first step is the same: sign up on the register of applicants for protected housing in Castilla y León (Registro Público de Demandantes de Vivienda de Protección Pública). Without that registration you are not in any allocation. For VIVA's rentals you also need three years of registered residence (empadronamiento) in Valladolid.

The 2026 draw for municipal rentals took place on 30 July before a notary and ranked applicants by programme: general, over 65, Vivienda Verde and Vivienda Blanca. There is a new one every year; if you missed it, sign up now for the next one.

What are the requirements for protected housing (VPO) in Valladolid?
Those of Castilla y León: being on the Registro Público de Demandantes, not owning another home in Spain (with exceptions), and income up to 6.5 times the adjusted IPREM, with a minimum of 1 times the IPREM to buy. For VIVA's municipal rentals, also three years of registered residence in Valladolid, no debts with the tax office (Hacienda), Social Security, the City Council or VIVA, and the income for your programme (table above).
When is the Valladolid VPO draw in 2026?
VIVA's 2026 draw for municipal rentals took place on 30 July before a notary, at VIVA's offices (plaza de la Rinconada 5). The result is on VIVA's website. VIVA's developments for sale and Somacyl's each have their own application period and their own draw.
Where do I register as an applicant?
On the Registro Público de Demandantes de Vivienda de Protección Pública de Castilla y León, on the Junta's housing website. VIVA also sees people at plaza de la Rinconada 5, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00, and the Junta at the Edificio de Usos Múltiples (plaza del Milenio 1).
What is Tuya Vivienda?
The brand of Somacyl, the Junta's public company, for its rental developments. In Valladolid it has youth rentals in Parquesol, Parque Alameda, calle Mieses and Sabatini: you will see them in the list of offers on this page, each with its source.
